Concussion tells the story of accomplished Nigerian pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu in Pittsburg who uncovers the truth about brain damage in football players who suffer repeated concussions in the course of normal play.
The NFL will probably spend milllions trying to squash this film just how they squashed Dr. Omalu’s work. It’s important for everyone, especially those parents in American, to understand what could happen to those who play American Football. Personally, I’m not a fan of the sport but it’s the most popular sport of the nation but it can have serious consequences to those who play. This film does an amazing job of making it know of those players who suffered or died because of the violent disruptive behaviour because of the syndrome.
Sony Pictures and the team behind the film are very brave to take on the NFL to show people the truth of the sport’s health effects on their players, no matter what their age or stage. The science behind the discovery was fascinating and didn’t overwhelm you with facts and science that you might not understand. The film shows that one person can make all the difference with some serious determination.
Even if you’re not a Will Smith fan, or even a fan of American Football like myself, this film is a must see as the performances given are genuine and impassioned.
